Warriors Continue Winning Ways, Crush Panthers 61-0 Share beginning to sound like a broken record. Once again the Casey-Westfield Warriors used a dominant defense and scored almost at will last Friday night as they kept their perfect season intact with a 61-0 victory over an outmanned Oblong Panther squad. Senior quarterback Brett Livvix threw four touchdown passes, the Warriors returned two punts for touchdowns, and three different running backs crossed the goal line on a very wet October evening. Livvix, who finished with 173 yards passing, connected with Chris Unzicker on touchdowns that covered five and 58 yards, while also tossing scoring passes to Seth Brewer (41 yards) and Josh Thais (22 yards). The Purple and Gold ground game contributed 143 yards to the spectacular offensive show, with Billy Seeley (14 yard touchdown), Austin Ragsdale (25 yard touchdown), and Taylor White (12 yard touchdown) each recording a score. The remainder of the Warrior points came as the result of a pair of exciting punt returns. Brewer scampered 57 yards with a Panther punt as the first quarter came to a close, and then Colin Carver weaved up the home sideline for a 50 yard touchdown early in the third period. ''We knew that with all of the rain in the last couple of days, the playing conditions would be less than ideal,'' commented Warrior head coach Keith Sinclair. ''We played well on a muddy field, benefiting from good field position provided by our special teams. Offensively, we were pretty balanced and our defense did a good job of limiting Oblong's offense.'' Actually, the Purple and Gold defense was dominant, limiting the visiting Panthers to no first downs and minus 17 yards of total offense. ''We put good pressure on their quarterback, and our line and linebackers did a nice job of controlling the line of scrimmage,'' Sinclair continued. ''We have had some lopsided wins lately, and we must remained focused in practice and continue to improve during the final two weeks of the regular season. Our goal remains an undefeated regular season and success in the playoffs.''

Ragsdale was the leading rusher for the Warriors with 44 yards on only four attempts, while Seeley chipped in 26 yards on four rushes. Unzicker was on the receiving end of three passes which netted 79 yards, while Brewer caught the 41 yard strike from Livvix. On a cool night, the Warriors very nearly had three punt returns for touchdowns. After Oblong failed to get a first down on their first possession of the contest, Unzicker fielded a Panther punt and appeared to reach the end zone for the first points of the game. But an illegal block by the Warriors nullified the fine effort, but only delayed the inevitable lopsided outcome. ''It is nice to be undefeated once again this regular season, but we will face some tough competition when the playoffs arrive,'' Sinclair explained. ''As a team, we must continue to work hard in practice, attempt to stay healthy, and build on our success.'' Now 7-0 overall on the regular season and 6-0 in the Little Illini Conference, the Warriors make their final regular season road trip this Friday night to Edwards County. The opening kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Albion.
