Arrest made in car thefts Share
A juvenile, recently arrested for the Aug. 12 rash of car burglaries, has been arrested again for the theft of two automobiles. Following his arrest on Sept. 3, the 15-year-old youth was released to family members and given an 8 p.m. curfew. According to Chief of Police Mark Jenkins, a truck belonging to Jason Garver was stolen from the parking lot of the Casey Country Club on Thurs., Sept. 24. It was recovered in a cornfield south of Casey and west of Route 49 on the next day, Sept. 25. Items from the truck were found strewn along a road near Toledo. That same night, a car was stolen from Phil Brown's home on East Washington. It was found at 5:51 p.m., Sat., Sept. 26 in a field one-quarter mile west of Route 49 and 25 yards north of 950th Road. The vehicle had suffered $6,000 in damages. Both vehicles were unlocked and had the keys in them. Evidence led the Casey Police Department to question the 15-year-old juvenile arrested earlier and an arrest was made after he confessed to both thefts. He was sent to a juvenile detention center in Danville and was scheduled for a court hearing on Tues., Sept. 29. No further information was available at press time.
