C-W School District welcomes new teachers

Share

Four new teachers and an assistant school nurse joined the Casey-Westfield School District when doors opened last Monday. Three of the five aren't exactly new to the district as they are Casey-Westfield High School graduates.

Jason Blankenbaker, although a graduate of Robinson High School, is the son of two Casey High School graduates, Dan and Vicki (Laymon) Blankenbaker. Jason is a 2006 graduate of SIU-E. His past experience includes subbing, giving tennis lessons, and teaching in the Safe-Op Education program in Robinson. Jason will teach World Cultures and Civics at the high school, replacing Jim Sullivan who moved into the assistant principal's position, and will coach 7th grade boys basketball, fresh-soph boys basketball, assist with varsity basketball, and assist with boys and girls tennis. Jason pointed out another tie to the C-W school district in that his sister, the late Heather Bradshaw, also spent a year in the Casey system, teaching and coaching tennis.

New at Roosevelt Junior High School is Haley Morgan Honselman in the cross-categorical position. Haley is a 1999 graduate of Casey-Westfield and a 2003 graduate of the University of Illinois. After graduation, she managed Arndt's Variety Store until taking a teaching job at Cumberland High School. She is the wife of Eric Honselman and the daughter of Bernie and Carletta Morgan of Casey. She and Eric have a four-month-old daughter, Kelly.

New at Monroe Elementary are two teachers and an assistant school nurse.
