New school year brings changes to district  Share
The first day of school in the Red Hill Unit 10 School District on Wednesday was one which included several changes in administration. The former principal of Red Hill High School, Matt Seaton, was on the campus of Bridgeport Grade School to insure smooth transitions for students being taken home by bus. He replaced Dennis Kimmel as the Superintendent of the district. Two new principals, BGS Principal Jakie Walker and RHHS Principal Clarence Gross Jr. were also instrumental in the process. For Petty and Sumner Attendance Center Principal Todd Tiffany, it was business-as-usual as he entered his second year as principal. Upon the retirement of Dr. Barry Edwards, former BGS Principal Deanna Brashear began serving in the capacity of assistant superintendent. Current members on the Unit 10 school board are: Gary Huber, Chad Hill, Roger Kissen, Elaine Heath (secretary), Jim Legg (president), Bruce Jones and Bob Christy (vice-president).
The board meets in executive session tonight (Thursday) at 6 p.m. The meeting will be open to the public at 7 p.m. in the RHHS Study Hall. Barbara E. Allender is editor of the Bridgeport Leader.
