Share

This Saturday (June 20) is the 13th Annual Lawrence County Relay for Life event at the Lawrenceville City Park. The event starts at 5 p.m. with the opening ceremony followed by the survivors lap. This is the 25th anniversary of this important event.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend to support the teams and the survivors, as well as enjoy the entertainment, cake walks, and bingo. Plan to come early and stay late.

The luminaria ceremony will be at 9 p.m. and luminaria will be available for purchase until 7 p.m. The silent basket auction is open to the public and will end at 2 a.m.

This year's theme is ''Let's Sock it to Cancer'' and campsites will be decorated for the campsite competition. Many campsites will have food available for purchase, as well as fundraisers. For example, there will be chicken and noodles, fried green beans and fried pickles, hot dogs and chips, tacos in a bag, riblet sandwiches and brats, popcorn/peanuts and candy, non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiris, and biscuits and gravy (at midnight). There are 50/50 drawings, raffles, sumo wrestling, and a jigsaw puzzle 50/50 contest.

The Lawrence County Health Department will be doing free blood pressure checks. Lawrence County Memorial Hospital will be providing blood sugar monitoring, blood pressure checks, and handing out colorectal screening kits from 5 to 9 p.m
