First Baptist Church

Worship services at First Baptist Church, Oblong, on February 12 began with announcements, prayer concerns and health updates. A very heartfelt "Praise God!" that Sean Morecraft was not seriously hurt in the auto accident Friday night.

Special music was indeed "special" Sunday morning. Kaitlyn and Kurt Knollenberg sang "God Gave Me You" in honor of the 50th anniversary of their grandparents, Ray and Thelma Baker. Their wonderful performance was accompanied by a video presentation of Ray and Thelma "through the years". It was a very beautiful and touching way to show them how much they are loved. Thank you for letting us share in the moment.

The guest pastor was Justin Switzer. His message was taken from Colossians 1:15-18. He spoke of the greatest need each of has in this world today. The need for God! That need is physical, spiritual and eternal. In the physical realm God created everything; He is in control of everything and the head of the church. In the spiritual realm we are to focus on who God is and not just what He can give us in this life. Finally, knowing God as Lord and Savior gives us hope in our hearts and an eternity with our Lord. His closing questions were; do you know Jesus as your Lord and if you do are you truly living like it?

This Week: Friday is Children's Ministry Day.

Looking Ahead:

February 26: Women's Ministry Day

March 1: GA Sleep-over.
