Facebook, aspiring to surpass the mobile dating applications such as Bumble and Tinder, has begun experimenting its new dating feature in Colombia. As reported by The Berge, “At first glimpse, ‘Facebook Dating’ very much appears similar to its rival Hinge. Both retreat from the swiping model made famous by Tinder all for requesting users to reply to question prompts and begin chats dependent on something in the profile of a person.”
“Facebook Dating” comprises incorporation with Events & Groups and uses other features of Facebook to extend the dating group and push users to convene in public. Product Manager at Facebook, Nathan Sharp, said, “Dating has been a conduct that we have observed on Facebook for an actually long time. We wish to make it simpler and more relaxed for individuals to engage in. We merely considered that now was the correct time.”
“Facebook Dating” would be accessible in the mobile app of the social networking company and will not be accessible for desktop users for the time being. It is at present accessible to the users who are 18 and over, free of cost, and does not consist of any premium features or advertisements. The firm started validating the app in-house in August and solicited its workers to use fake details for their dating profiles and intends s to rub out all information prior to the public rollout.
Mark Zuckerberg, the Company CEO, originally declared the application at Facebook F8 keynote, generally called F8 developer conference in May 2018 in San Jose, California.
